Lors de — Meaning and Pronunciation

Lors de means “during,” “at the time of,” or “on the occasion of.” It is used to connect an action or event with the occasion when it happened. For example, lors de mon voyage à Paris means “during my trip to Paris.” Lors de is more formal than pendant (during) and is especially common in written French. Unlike lorsque (when), lors de must be followed by a noun or noun phrase, not a full clause.

The IPA pronunciation of lors de is /lɔʁ də/, which sounds approximately like “lor duh”.
