📝 Answer Key + Quick Notes

1. b) sommes venusNous sommes venus de Paris hier soir = We came from Paris last night. Use the passé composé because a specific time in the past has been stated.

2. a) vient Elle vient souvent me voir le week-end (present tense) = She often comes to see me on weekends.

3. a) viens Je viens d’acheter un nouveau vélo (venir de + infinitive) = I just bought a new bike. This sentence uses the passé récent or recent past tense.

4. a) viendrontIls viendront à la fête demain soir = They will come to the party tomorrow evening. Use the future tense (futur simple) for a future event.

5. b) es venuTu es venu chez moi après le travail ? (passé composé) = Did you come to my place after work? For this sentence, the present tense could work too. Tu viens chez moi après le travail ? (Are you coming to my place after work?)

6. a) venonsNous venons de commencer le cours = We just started class. Use the passé récent (venir de + infinitive) to express “just”.

7. a) est venueMarie est venue avec ses amis (passé composé) = Marie came with her friends. An extra -e must be added to the past participle as venir uses être (to be) as an auxiliary verb.

8. b) venez Quand vous venez en France, visitez Lyon ! (present tense) = When you come to France, visit Lyon. For this sentence, visitez is in the imperative mood.
