I am a French teacher. Fortunately, I love my profession!

Professeur in French can translate to both “teacher” and “professor”. It’s common for teachers in the French school system to be referred to as le/la prof.

Quelle est votre profession, monsieur ? Je suis avocat depuis plus que 25 ans.

What is your profession, sir? I’ve been a lawyer for more than 25 years.

La profession is a synonym for métier. This interrogative adjective quel (quelle in this case as the noun that follows is feminine) translates to “what” or “which” in French. When combined with être (to be) in the present tense, depuis (literal translation since) means “have been”.
