📘 Monde meaning

Monde is a masculine French noun meaning world or Earth. By extension it can also mean “society” (le monde moderne) or a specific sphere like le monde de la mode (the fashion world). It also appears in common expressions such as tout le monde (everybody).

🎧 Monde pronunciation

Le monde is pronounced /lə mɔ̃d/. The “on” is a nasal sound, like ong but without closing the lips, and the final -e is silent. The -d is pronounced softly at the end.
