Bah ouais! – French Interjection You Must Know For Fluency

Today’s lesson focuses on the French informal and somewhat slang interjection “Bah ouai !”, which translates to “yeah”. Bah ouais is essentially slang for oui (yes) and is used for putting emphasis on the obvious.

This second sentences uses partir, which translates to “to leave”. Students often confuse this verb with sortir (to go out). Se dépêcher is a reflexive verb meaning “to hurry”.

Est-ce qu’on part ce matin ? – Bah ouais ! Dépêche-toi !

Are we leaving this morning! Yeah! Hurry up!
