Adverbs of place or location describe where an action occurs. “The children play outside”, “I’m going over there.” The following list also includes some adverbial expressions.

example sentences of French adverbs of location
- Les enfants jouent dehors. The kids are playing outside.
- Va ailleurs! Go somewhere else!
- Le taxi tourne à droite. The taxi is taking a right.
- Continue tout droit. Keep going straight ahead.
- La voiture est devant la maison. The car is in front of the house.
- Le chien est derrière la maison. The dog is behind the house.
- Il y a des fleurs autour de la maison. There are flowers around the house.
- Il y a des arbres partout. There are trees everywhere.
- J’habite à côté de l’eglise. I live next to the church.
- Nous habitons loin du centre-ville. We live far from downtown.
- Tu habites près de la mer. You live near the sea.
- Ma chemise est quelque part mais je ne sais pas ou. My shirt is somewhere but I don’t know where.
- Il y a des pissenlit çà et là dans notre pelouse. There are dandelions here and there in our lawn.
