French être expressions are common phrases built around the verb être (to be). These expressions combine être with nouns, adjectives, or prepositional phrases to describe situations, emotions, relationships, and personality traits.
Many of these phrases are idiomatic and cannot be translated word-for-word. Learning them helps you understand natural spoken French and recognize expressions that appear frequently in everyday conversation.

Être + adjective expressions
These expressions combine être with an adjective to describe feelings, states, personality traits or physical conditions.
